Stone runs

Many parts of the Islands valleys and mountains are covered in “Rivers of stone”, these rocks vary in size from a foot or so to great huge boulders and the width and length of the stone runs vary from a few metres to several miles. They can look quite stunning, particularly from the air.

They do prove a bit of a problem when trying to gather the sheep though as you have to travel a good distance to get around them. Most are impossible for animals to cross and are not possible to drive over.
